This Is A Standoff

Its safe to say that This Is A Standoff isn’t your typical band. Members of the band live in three different cities on rival sides of Canada, with over 3000km between them. Known for their energetic and tight live performance, the band boasts a roster of punk rock veterans, including founding members of Belvedere, Forty Cent Fix, and The Johnsons.
In the spring of 2007, Standoff took off to Europe on their first tour, having only released two songs through their Myspace page. In fact, the band’s first show ever wasn’t in any of their hometowns… it was in Rillaar, Belgium.
Since then, TIAS has returned to Europe two more times seeing their audiences grow, and will be heading back across the Atlantic again for a fourth time in Spring 2010. On top of that, the band has completed several Canadian tours, as well as tours in the United States and Japan.
In just over two years since their first show, the band has played in more than twenty countries, toured with the likes of Strung Out, Millencolin, No Use For A Name, Mad Caddies, Strike Anywhere, and played shows with Bad Religion, NOFX, Lagwagon, The Vandals, and many many more along the way.
In that time, This Is A Standoff has also managed to squeeze out two full length albums, the call and answer of Be Excited (2007) and Be Disappointed (2009). Be Disappointed was also released on a limited pressing of vinyl this past summer.
The winter months will be spent preparing for a full out world ambush starting with a two week Eastern Canadian headlining tour in early March, followed directly by an extensive two month tour of Europe with support from Finland’s Part Time Killer and Canada’s Passenger Action on separate legs of the tour. Stay tuned, because the new year is shaping up to be a good one.
